Loom Analytics, a Toronto legal technology start-up, is seeking a full-time full-stack software developer for our analytics-as-a-service web application. Loom is working to transform the legal industry by providing Canadian case law analytics, one legal decision at a time. 

Position duration: Full-time permanent
Starting Salary: $50,000, negotiable based on experience and skillset
Start Date: December 2017

Description of Role
We're looking for a self-motivated developer with PHP and SQL experience who enjoys challenges and getting things done in a fast-paced start-up environment. Our ideal candidate cares about writing clear, readable code and has a talent for refactoring existing code. Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a full-stack developer (2-3 years minimum)
  • Strong MySQL experience, including optimizing and creating queries
  • Solid PHP experience
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools such as GIT
  • Experience with front-end development (JavaScript, Ajax, HTML5, and CSS3)
  • Understanding of session management
  • Familiarity with API integration
  • Understanding of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments

Not Required, But Nice to Have:

  • AWS experience a plus
  • Familiarity with/exposure to Python and Mongo DB
  • Familiarity with NLP
  • Data science background
  • Exposure to mobile app development

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Taking part in the application lifecycle, with a primary focus on coding, troubleshooting and debugging
  • Developing web-standard solutions using PHP and MySQL to solve complex business problems
  • Building reusable code and code libraries
  • Integration of front-end and back-end development
  • Optimizing existing code to improve speed and scalability
  • Refactoring existing code to improve readability and ease of use
  • Collaborating with other members of the team and working on multiple modules
  • Documenting code on a regular basis

This position will also support operations for eDecree, a legal and medical transcription company that operates out of the same office location.

Starting Salary: $40,000

Description of Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, we're looking for a self-directed operations assistant to help provide administrative support to a quickly growing office. This is a newly created role, and we're looking for a candidate who is interested in making it their own. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff members and clients
  • Strong MS Word and Excel skills (pivot tables, macros)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage one's own workload
  • Good mathematical reasoning skills

Not Required, But Nice to Have:

  • 1-2 years of administrative experience
  • Familiarity with the Canadian legal landscape
  • Experience with SquareSpace, QuickBooks, and Asana (or other task-management software)
