Course Overview: This comprehensive course is designed for transcriptionists looking to build efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in MS Word. Participants will learn how to format transcripts to meet regulatory requirements and convert that formatting into structured, easy-to-use styles for streamlined production.
The first portion of the course focuses on foundational formatting techniques, as well as built-in shortcut keys and the creation of custom macros and hotkeys to significantly improve workflow speed. The second portion introduces powerful tools such as Search & Replace for efficient editing, followed by a detailed walkthrough of document setup, including margins, headers and footers, and page and section breaks. The course concludes with leveraging styles to generate Tables of Contents and saving documents as reusable templates for ongoing use.
By the end of this course, transcriptionists will be equipped to create, edit, and format transcripts with greater speed and precision, while also developing reusable templates that support long-term productivity.

About the hosts:
Mona Datt is a 20-year veteran in transcription operations. She has leveraged the unique combination of her engineering training with her interest in business operations to assist clients with building and running digital transcription operations across court reporting, insurance, and medico-legal sectors.
Ron DaLessio has worked closely with courts, agencies, and reporters to help them navigate the evolving landscape of digital capture, stenography, workflow, translation, and AI-driven transcription. over two decades in the legal technology industry. His focus is simple: help organizations capture more proceedings, reduce turnaround time, and deliver accurate transcripts at scale.
Valentina Bianco is an Authorized Court Transcriptionist with the Province of Ontario, bringing over four years of experience in the field. Her expertise extends to her role as a Training and Process Improvement Lead, where she has successfully managed transcription teams while optimizing productivity and profitability. Valentina has played a pivotal role in assisting client teams with the seamless transition of their typists to editors.
